Castor oil has been used in Ayurveda since ancient times. The plant is native to India and known by the Sanskrit name of Eranda. This highly respected oil rich in a rare fatty acid (ricinoleic) has been used to protect the skin and nourish the scalp and hair.
For hair :
The moisturizing effect of pure castor oil reduces breakage & split ends and fights frizz leaving hair lustrous and manageable. Plus, the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activity of Ayumi Castor oil also helps dissolve excess oil & dirt buildup to cleanse the scalp, control dandruff, and soothe conditions encouraging hair growth. Its vitamin E and fatty acids content help nourish the scalp as well. Castor oil also stimulates the scalp, boosts blood flow, and strengthens the hair root, preventing hair fall.
For skin :
With its low molecular weight renowned for penetrating deep layers of the skin, this highly hydrating oil replenishes and holds moisture leaving the skin soft and smooth. Ayumi Castor oil contains antioxidants that fend off free radicals that help enhance youthful skin. It hydrates, nourishes, and soothes dry, chapped lips.
Directions for Use
Simply massage it into your scalp with your fingertips, and leave it on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing out. This will help ensure that the oil seeps deeply into the scalp for maximum benefit. You can also use a comb to brush some of the oil through the rest of your hair to give it extra nourishment.
For a more intense nourishing treatment, you can try an overnight application. Work the oil into your scalp before bed and cover your head with a shower cap to keep it from making contact with your pillows. In the morning, rinse out the oil and shampoo as normal.
If you’ve coloured or chemically treated your hair recently, consider diluting cold-pressed castor oil with a carrier oil, such as coconut or jojoba. This will help prevent the hair colour from fading too quickly and reduce any possible irritation to sensitive scalps.
Castor oil is thick in consistency, so mixing it with a carrier oil before applying to face is advised. You could also add to shea butter for an extra-moisturising result. Apply this mixture to face before bed, after cleansing face. You can leave the oil on over night or wipe off with warm cloth after 1 to 5 minutes.
